RUPERT BROOKE

Rupert Brooke has continued to fascinate people of all ages and all walks of life, since his death at the age of 27 during the First World War. He packed so much into those few years - he was a scholar, poet, dramatist, literary critic, travel writer, political activist, and soldier. He also had a huge number of friends - some of them the leading figures of their generation - to whom he wrote long and numerous letters. He had a complex personality and a confused love life, which are not unconnected to his striking good looks.
